Want wisdom, insight and understanding for living? God gives a hint how to find it in Proverbs 2:1-15.

Let’s take a look…here’s how He suggests doing it:

1 – Listen to God (vv1-2) – “Receive His Word…make your ear attentive” This is Intentional Listening. “Incline your heart.” Deal with your pride…Listen….you may not know as much as you think you do.

2 – Ask God for It (v3) – Pretty Simple. Ask!

3 – Search for It (v4) – Yes, in the Bible. But in other places as well…books, blogs, friends…. If all Truth is God’s Truth, we can learn from it….but be sure to filter all you learn through the “Lordship Filter” (i.e., “if it’s ok for Jesus, it’s ok for me.”)

4 – The Result – Part I (vv5-8) – “Then” (Note the Cause and Effect)…”you will understand the fear of God…and find the knowledge of God.” The beginning of wisdom is to fear the Lord…so if you “understand the fear of God” and choose to live by it and in it, you are at the beginning of living a wise life….and the “knowledge of God”…who wouldn’t want the “knowledge of God” for living life? This is an incredible offer for all who want it.

5 – The Result – Part II (vv9-15) – “Then”….again, note the “if/then” relationship…part of the monkey is on your back…”you will understand righteousness and justice and equity and every good path.” Wow! What a bargain. If I do parts 1-3 above, then I will know how I can “get right” with God and how to “live right.” I will understand how to be fair and how to make good decisions in life.
